The emergency services have rescued two minors, aged 17 and 16, who were seriously injured after falling into a ten-metre-deep well in an area near Puerto Naos, in Arrecife (Lanzarote). A harrowing intervention that lasted two hours and required up to eight firefighters.
“It was a very small gap. Furthermore, they had to be removed in safe conditions,” explains the manager of the Security and Emergencies consortium of the Lanzarote council, Enrique Espinosa, in statements to COPE Canarias.
They were both enjoying the carnival when they went to an area of ??water mills, where they thought they found what was a closed room. However, both fell down a ten-meter-deep pit, becoming momentarily unconscious. “A recklessness,” Espinosa recalls.
The emergency call was received around 11:40 p.m. this Monday and in it one of those affected reported that they had fallen into the well from a height of about ten meters and that they needed medical assistance.
