The three-year-old boy whose father drowned trying to save him after falling into a community pool in Santa Ponça, yesterday Tuesday in the Mallorcan municipality of Calvià, died this Wednesday at the Son Espases hospital in Palma.
As reported to EFE by health sources, the little boy has not overcome drowning and has died in the pediatric ICU of the reference hospital center in the Balearic Islands.
His father, a 37-year-old Indian citizen, was taken to hospital after being rushed from the scene on Tuesday afternoon, the same sources said.
The event took place in the afternoon in the community pool of an apartment block in circumstances of whose investigation the Civil Guard has taken charge.
The main hypothesis that is handled is that the little one fell into the water and the father, who did not know how to swim, jumped in to rescue him.
A neighbor of the apartments saw the two bodies floating in the pool from his house and immediately called the emergency services.
Several 061 ambulances were transferred to the place, whose specialists treated the father and son, who were taken to Son Espases.
