About ten minors have been arrested in Belgium for the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in the municipality of Kortrijk, located in the Flemish province of West Flanders.
The West Flanders prosecutor’s office has reported that the sexual assault occurred during the Flemish Easter holidays – between April 1 and 14 – thus confirming information published by the newspaper Nieuwsblad.
Those involved, who have been identified, “were detained and presented before a juvenile judge, who took the necessary measures. “Several suspects have been admitted to a community institution and the investigation is ongoing,” the prosecutor added.
The victim was sexually assaulted and raped by several young people with the complicity of her boyfriend, who took her to the wooded area where the events occurred on at least two occasions, according to the local Flemish and French-speaking press.
According to Nieuwsblad, the suspects are between twelve and sixteen years old, although the prosecution has not wanted to detail the exact age of the attackers and has limited itself to pointing out that, indeed, they are minors.
