The Mossos d’Esquadra have located and arrested, thanks to police drones equipped with a thermal camera, a thief who tried to flee through rooftops in Barcelona, ​​in an operation in which a total of four people have been arrested for two violent robberies at homes in the area high of the Catalan capital.

As reported by the Catalan police this Friday, the investigation began on December 12, after two robberies on the same estate in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi in Barcelona, ​​in which the thieves acted with great violence and using firearms.

Specifically, according to the Mossos, around 7:50 in the morning a man approached the estate’s concierge as he was leaving his house to start his shift and pointed a gun at his head while asking him where a neighbor lived. estate. Subsequently, other thieves entered the place, tied up the janitor and searched his home.

Two of the assailants then went to the neighbor’s home, assaulted him when he was leaving his house to pick up the newspaper and forced him to go back in, pointing a firearm at him and asking him for money. After obtaining a loot of 25,000 euros in cash and jewelry valued at more than half a million euros, the thieves left the home and met a companion who was doing surveillance work.

The Mossos opened an investigation to try to identify the thieves, between 30 and 33 years old, who were arrested at dawn on Tuesday, April 26, in a large device with several units of the Catalan police, including the Special Intervention Group (GEI) and the Regional Area of ​​Operational Resources (ARRO), given the risk that they would be armed.

Around 6 am, the GEI accessed the home of the investigated and one of them, 33 years old, fled through the window to avoid being arrested and escaped through the roofs of the adjacent farms. The Mossos activated police drones used by the GEI, which made it possible to locate the movements of the fled thief through the thermal camera and record his escape, until he could be arrested.

Since the Mossos activated a burglary prevention device on houses in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district on December 15, a total of 28 arrests have already been made, according to police data.
