A 54-year-old man of Spanish nationality died this Wednesday by drowning in a community pool in Torrelles de Foix (Barcelona), as reported by Civil Protection of the Generalitat.
The emergency services received an alert at 3:23 p.m. today that there was a man who seemed to have drowned in the pool.
Four patrols from the Mossos d’Esquadra, as well as two ambulances and a command vehicle from the Emergency Medical System (SEM), have traveled to the place, which have only been able to certify the death of the man.
Today’s is the second fatality in a swimming pool in Catalonia since June 15, the first died on June 21 in a swimming pool in Ponts (Lleida).
Civil Protection has recalled the importance of taking extreme precautions in swimming pools and on the beaches and notifying the emergency services if anyone has difficulties in the water.
