The National Police have arrested five graffiti artists for causing damage valued at around 20,000 euros on commuter and metro trains in the Community of Madrid, who carried out the graffiti after activating the emergency brake lever of the convoys or entering the garages.

The detainees have a record for the same criminal acts and have been brought to justice as allegedly responsible for three crimes of damage, the Madrid Police Headquarters reported this Wednesday.

All of them are men between 26 and 46 years old, three Spanish, one Guatemalan and one Bulgarian.

The graffiti artists carried out the graffiti taking advantage of the stoppage of trains or using the “lever” method, which consists of activating the emergency brake lever of the convoys.

On other occasions they entered the train depots themselves, forcing the access doors to the facilities.

The investigation began when two railway companies reported three events that occurred in mid-August and it was not until last week when the agents, after identifying them all, managed to arrest them.
