The European Commission makes its move and opens an investigation into the new TikTok application that pays young people to watch videos. It is called TikTok Lite and it is available in Spain and also in France. The new platform allows all those who want to accumulate points by discovering new content or following some accounts and, later, all these points can be exchanged for gifts.
Brussels fears that this new social network could pose a risk to adolescents and young people, and generate even more addictions to screens. The 27 have asked TikTok to send them more information about the platform to know in detail the impact it can have on the protection of minors, but above all on their mental health.
Specifically, they have given the Chinese company two weeks to send them the risk assessment that they should have prepared before deploying the new application in the European Union. We remember that this weekend the French government already showed its concern about the arrival of this application on young people’s mobile phones. In fact, he considers that it goes against the principles of the digital society.
