The cyclist Alejandro Carnicero González, 47, known to his friends as Jandro, died on Thursday at the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) after having spent more than twenty days fighting to recover from the serious injuries of which he was a victim. on December 6, when a car ran over him and a companion on the AS-329 highway near Gozón (Asturias), according to El Comercio.
As a result of the impact, Carnicero was thrown against the car, breaking the windshield, denting the roof and falling to the other side of the road wall. The other cyclist also had injuries, but a little lighter.
An experienced cyclist on both mountain and road bikes, he was also a personal cycling trainer and was part of the Pichones sports team, well-known in the Carreño council.
His family and friends have mourned the death of the cyclist through social networks and only ask “that justice be done” given the presumption that the driver of the vehicle entered the opposite lane for driving under the influence of alcohol.
