The National Police in collaboration with the Polizia di Stato of Italy arrested a violent fugitive on Monday on Madrid’s Gran Vía who had a European arrest and extradition warrant as an alleged member of an organization dedicated to drug trafficking and money laundering in Italy.

According to the General Directorate of Police, the fugitive organized, together with another person fleeing from justice, the sale of three kilos of cocaine in a hotel in the Italian city of Cagliari, a transaction in which they “shot down” their buyers, who caused “serious injuries”.

The Italian investigators, on the trail of both criminals, collected evidence that one of them could be in Spanish territory, information that they transferred last June to the National Police.

The location of the fugitive was complex since he used false documents of different nationalities to make his identification difficult.

After numerous procedures carried out in the provinces of Alicante, Barcelona and Malaga, the fugitive was located in a central Madrid hotel, where he was with his sentimental partner, both using Spanish documentation.

The agents deployed a device around the hotel on Monday, waiting for the couple to leave.

Around twelve noon, the man and the woman left the complex accompanied by their pets, at which time the Police proceeded to arrest both of them.

The fugitive made the threat of fleeing, for which the agents were forced to reduce him, which caused a struggle in which two of the policemen suffered minor bruises and abrasions.

The agents seized the couple 3,800 euros in cash, three mobile phones, a Dominican passport, a Spanish ID and a forged driving license.

One of the fraudulent documents had the photograph of the fugitive’s partner, for which she was also arrested accused of a crime of documentary falsification.
