Using the same design as last year, Apple has updated the MacBook Air with the M3 chip in its two screen sizes, 13 and 14 inches. The popular model from the apple firm, thanks to the new processor, can now use two external processors. The speed at which it works is very high for a light computer, 60% faster than the generation with the M1 chip and maintains moderate energy consumption, with an autonomy of up to 18 hours, according to the company in a statement.
The M3 is the first of Apple’s processors built with 3-nanometer technology (1 nanometer is one billionth of a meter). The chip has functions compared to its predecessors such as dynamic caching, a system that optimizes the volume of memory it uses, ray tracing, the rendering of the lighting of graphic scenes, essential in video games, and mesh shading. In addition, it has hardware acceleration of the most used video codecs, including the professional ProRes. Its neural engine for artificial intelligence has 16 cores. The latter, according to the company’s note, make it “the best consumer laptop in the world for AI.”
The sizes available for its Liquid Retina displays are 13.6 and 15.3 inches, which reach up to 500 nits of brightness and have a profile of up to one billion colors. The new MacBook Air can now be reserved and will be available next Friday, March 8. The 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 chip starts at 1,299 euros (1,199 euros for the education sector) while the 15-inch one with M3 chip starts at 1,599 euros (1,499 euros for the education sector).
