A 42-year-old pilot, of Spanish nationality and French origin, who last Sunday participated in the international air show in San Javier (Murcia) died hours later in an accident when his small plane crashed to the ground in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real) on its return to the aerodrome from which it departed in the morning in Matilla de los Caños (Valladolid).

The National Police reported the identity of the pilot, Olivier Masurel, whose small plane hit a vulture, as a result of which he became unconscious and the plane plummeted to the ground, and noted that another one was flying next to this small plane. “We are devastated by the news of the fatal accident” suffered by the aerobatic pilot, the organizers of the air festival lamented on their Facebook network.

The accident took place once the air show ended when the pilot was returning to his destination aerodrome, in the Valladolid town of Matilla de los Caños, and a vulture hit him in the cockpit of his plane, causing him to fall to the ground in the aforementioned town of Ciudad Real.

As reported by the 112 emergency and emergency service in Castilla-La Mancha, the event took place at 3:51 p.m., near the CM-3012 highway, at kilometer 4, when the small plane, with a single occupant board, has started to burn when it falls to the ground and has been completely burned.

“We accompany his family and friends in this heartfelt loss, flying has been his passion and this fatal accident has taken his life; Come back high dear Olivier”, concluded the message from the organization of the San Javier international air festival.
