Biomedical Sciences or Bioengineering? Audiovisual communication or 3D animation? Mathematics or Statistics, or take the double degree? As the students who finish Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) or the Baccalaureate this year confirm, the offer of higher education is very extensive and choosing one option or another is not always easy. To guide students and their families, from today until this Sunday, March 19, Fira de Barcelona is organizing a new edition of the Saló de l’Ensenyament.
The event brings together some 220 exhibitors in palaces 1, 2 and in the Plaça del Univers of the Montjuïc site, presenting the largest offer of Baccalaureate studies, university degrees, higher education, complementary studies, Vocational Training, art, languages ??and sports for the 2023-24 academic year. In addition, the show includes more than 150 activities to help young people choose the studies that best suit their profile. For this, a group of experts will suggest academic itineraries according to the preferences and aptitudes of each student through individualized meetings, guided tours, talks and workshops organized by the exhibitors and by the show.
The director of the event, Laura Pararols, assures that “the role of the hall is not only to inform about the training offers but also to guide and be a valid help for the student when choosing their own itinerary. For this reason, she adds, this year we are going to increase the number of professionals including psychologists, educators and educational psychologists so that the accompaniment of the visitor is as precise and personalized as possible”.
In this new edition, the Saló de l’Ensenyament also has the collaboration of the Department of Education and the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya which, from their respective spaces and in relation to their scope of action, provide information updated on all training options, as well as different services and guidance tools.
The Department of Education, as a novelty, makes available to families and students a space for self-consultation, equipped with support staff, where all the updated offer of non-university studies can be consulted. There are two touch screens that allow boys and girls to design the 16 most frequent training itineraries both for students who have already completed ESO and for those who have not. Another novelty is that there is an information point on pre-registration and another on the entrance exams to certain studies. There is also the personalized orientation space, with fourteen individual attention points.
The higher artistic education of Dramatic Art, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets, Dance, Design and Music are located in Palace 1, along with the entire university offer since they are studies adapted to the European Higher Education Area that are taught as degrees and masters.
All the universities, both public and private, are located in Palace 1, which publicize their training offer for the 2023-2024 academic year. Likewise, the Department of Research and Universities will offer information and guidance on the access and admission processes to the universities of Catalonia, scholarships and other aid, as well as video-tutorial talks.
In this space, students can solve doubts related to university entrance tests, personal aptitude tests (PAP) or cut-off marks and place assignments. They also have at their disposal all the resources and orientation tools of the Universitats Channel, such as study search engines or an application to prepare for university entrance exams, among others.
Regarding the university offer, the main public and private universities in the country (UB, UAB, UPC, UPF, UdL, UdG, URV, UOC, URL, UVIC, UIC, UAO-CEU) participate in the Saló de l’Educació ), as well as other international centers making their debut at the show such as the Institut Français d’Espagne and ESDES Business School (France); Business and Hotel Management School (Switzerland); FEDA EDU Barcelona German Business School (Germany); the University of Economics in Prague (Czech Republic); Microfuse (UK); or Education and Athletics USA Sl. (United States), among others. All the centers offer, in their respective spaces, information on the offer of degrees available in their faculties and schools, as well as other services on their campuses: languages, sports or accommodation.
Languages ??are also one of the protagonists of the show, with a space dedicated exclusively to the training offer in this area, proposing different courses and stays in various countries.
