A nine-year-old girl died this Thursday after falling into a pond in a park in Paraje de La Muralla, in the Archivel district (Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia), as reported by the Emergency Coordination Center of the Region of Murcia.
At 11:35 a.m., the 112 emergency telephone received a call informing that a girl had fallen into a pond in the place indicated above and was not seen.
Patrols from the Civil Guard, Local Police, firefighters from the Consortium for Fire Fighting and Rescue (CEIS) of the Region of Murcia and a Mobile Emergency Unit with toilets from the Emergency Management and Sanitary Emergencies ‘061’ were mobilized to the place. After being located, the CEIS firefighters rescued the girl from the water, unconscious, and despite the efforts of the toilets, the girl has died. The Murcia City Council’s Civil Protection Emergency Psychologists Unit assisted the parents.
According to La Opinión de Murcia, the girl’s family, of North African origin, lived very close to this place and it was a neighbor in the area who made the call to the Emergency Department when the parents were very upset in the park area.
