Maritime Rescue has rescued 98 immigrants on board two cayucos during the night of this Tuesday when they were near the islands of Gran Canaria and El Hierro, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of 112 of the Canary Islands.

Specifically, the Macondo salvage rescue rescued a canoe with 16 people on board during the night of Tuesday when they were close to the island of Gran Canaria, transferring them to the Arguineguín dock, in the municipality of Mogán, where they were assisted by the health device in area.

Later, during the early hours of this Wednesday, Maritime Rescue, aboard the Talía sea guard, rescued another boat, with 82 immigrants, when they were close to the island of El Hierro. The migrants were transferred to the La Restinga dock, where the health device treated six of the migrants who needed medical help on the dock.

This migratory crisis is affecting the Canary Islands as a whole very hard, since last day it resulted in 462 more irregular arrivals to the coasts of El Hierro, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. With the intention of explaining the measures that are being adopted in the face of this migration crisis in the Canary Islands, Fernando Grande-Marlaska will appear today in the Senate at the request of the Popular Party. Let us remember that the figures are surprising, since we are talking about an increase in arrivals to the Canary Islands by sea of ??1,184.5% compared to January 2023: 566 people then, 7,270 this January.
