Today begins the call for the short story literary contest that for the third consecutive year has been convened by the gastronomy channel Comer de La Vanguardia. The text, which must be unpublished, have a title and may be written in any of the languages ​​of the State, must have a minimum length of 5,000 characters and a maximum of 12,000. You can participate from today until next Monday, July 3, the date from which no more originals will be accepted.

The name of the winner of the Familia Torres Award for Gastronomic Story will be revealed during the celebration of the third edition of the Comer Awards, on October 2 and will be endowed with 3,000 euros. In addition, the work chosen by a jury of experts made up of six people and equal, whose names will be announced that same day, will be published in its entirety in the pages of La Vanguardia and also on the web.

In the first two editions, the winning stories were El cuchillo jamonero (2020), by gastronome Inés Butrón and Un món perdut (2021), by journalist Maria Dolors Clotet. Ferran Adrià was in charge of delivering them, on both occasions, in a gala where other renowned chefs, such as Carme Ruscalleda, Joan Roca, Fina Puigdevall, Jordi Vilà or Romain Fornell announced other winners.

In this third call, applicants must once again comply with the instructions for participation and accept the bases, which can now be consulted on the web. The story must be sent in PDF to the email address relatocorto.comer@lavanguardia.es. Those people who choose to participate with a pseudonym must send an envelope by postal mail with the author’s data and contact information, which will only be opened if their work is a winner, to the address of La Vanguardia (Diagonal, 477 planta 16. 08036 Barcelona).

The initiative of the Familia Torres award for Gastronomic Story is the only fixed category of the awards organized by Comer La Vanguardia, the gastronomy space of La Vanguardia that last Tuesday celebrated its seventh anniversary with a party and that is a benchmark in this subject in the websites of the Spanish general media.
