The Smart City Index 2021 ranks Singapore first, which is a ranking of global cities that are most active in embracing technology. It also includes ecological, health, and societal issues. This Asian city is ahead of Oslo and Zurich. These cities are all said to have successfully managed the Covid-19 crisis and are likely to be more resilient in the future.
According to the latest data, environmental concerns tend to be strongest in wealthy cities. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, accessibility to improved air quality and better health services has been a priority.

The Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland and the Singapore University of Technology and Design are responsible for the Smart City Index.
Based on the perceptions of citizens about how technology can help improve their lives and economic and social data from the United Nations Human Development Index, the report ranks 118 cities worldwide.
