“A stranger comes to town” is one of the classic premises to start a good story. In the case of Havana nights, the stranger is a tourist named Luca who lands in the Cuban capital and will immerse himself in its most musical environment, to drag the public through a mosaic of the rhythms of the Caribbean island, its culture and idiosyncrasies.

After a year and a half European tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the show Havana nights will kick off the stable programming of the new Arenas theater in Barcelona, ??starting on August 24, where it will be on the bill for six weeks. With 32 artists on stage including dancers, singers and acrobats, and with a live orchestra made up only of women, nine in total. This orchestra is the one that has composed a special piece dedicated to Barcelona for the occasion, with sounds from the Caribbean.

Konstantin Rain, producer and president of the company affirms: “It is a dream to present our show of Latin rhythms in Barcelona.” Havana nights is shown on a stage with a 29-meter front by 12-meter depth, with an audience that seats 1,340 spectators “with perfect visibility,” says Joan Lluís Goas, the theater’s artistic director. This music, dance and acrobatics show features dancers from the Noches de La Habana Company and acrobats from the National Circus of Cuba. The director of the show, Michell Llamas, assures that the production has “magnificent acrobats and tightrope walkers who can only show their work on a huge stage like the Arenas Barcelona theater”. The show is produced by Be Entertained.

The room located in the dome of the shopping center, which occupies the space of the old bullring, in Plaza Espanya in Barcelona, ??has previously functioned as a theater and concert hall, but now it will do so in a stable manner throughout the season , with large-format musical shows. The shopping center where the Arenas Barcelona theater is located is owned by Merlin Properties, which has signed a long-term agreement with Global Exhibitions, a division of the Maximus Entertainment Group, which is dedicated to performing arts and live shows. Global Exhibitions has proposed to achieve public loyalty to this new space and for this reason the room will work every day of the week, combining schedules and shows.
