Music and wine will combine over the next few days and weeks in Penedès and in three regions of the province of Tarragona. Ressons Penedès celebrates this weekend, until tomorrow Sunday, its second edition with a program full of music and wines in different spaces. You will live both in various wineries and in various towns and cities in the Alt Penedès region. Concerts in municipal squares are free, and with free admission.

In total there will be 29 performances harmonized with wines and cavas spread across various stages in the territory. Highlights include performances by The Tyets, Mushkaa, Pegatina, Ladilla Rusa, Azucarillo Kings, Cris Juanico, David Carabén and Chano Domínguez. This is an initiative promoted by Cruïlla, with the support of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat and the Regional Council of Alt Penedès; in collaboration with the Penedès and Cava DOs, Penedès Turisme, the Barcelona Provincial Council, 18 municipalities of Alt Penedès and 10 wineries. It is a festival that aims to promote culture and wine tourism. In its first edition last year it attracted more than 13,000 spectators.

The concerts are offered in Avinyonet del Penedès, Castellví de la Marca, Granada, Font-rubí, Castellet i la Gornal, Gelida, Pontons, Mediona, Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Santa Fe del Penedès, Vilafranca del Penedès , Santa Margarida and Els Monjos, Torrelavit or Torrelles de Foix. In addition, the municipalities of Les Cabanyes, Puigdàlber and Sant Quintí de Mediona are also collaborating in this edition. Some municipalities offer tourist activities to complete your visit. The Caves Blancher, Freixenet, Castelo de Pedregosa, Vilarnau, Rexach Baqués, Can Ràfols dels Caus, Giró Ribot, Mont Rubí, Oriol Rossell and Segura Viudas wineries will also host concerts.

Xavier Lluch, president of the Regional Council of Alt Penedès, states that “the Ressons festival puts Penedès, during a weekend, in the center of the country through culture and music, and introduces our wines and cavas and our cellars”. And Lluís Valls, the president of the Penedès Tourism Promotion Consortium, believes that “Ressons positions us as a tourist destination for a public that is very far away and very close to us: people who live in nearby counties”. He also adds that “it’s a good opportunity for them to see what Penedès can offer them”.

On the other hand, the first edition of the SingulArts Festival takes place until June, a cultural proposal that fuses wine, arts and culture, nature and knowledge of the territory. It is organized by Musics

For today, Saturday, in Puigpelat, a dance show created exclusively for the festival has been scheduled, performed by Constanza Brn?i? and Oriol Aymat. On May 10, musicians Roger Padulles (tenor) and Medir Bonachi (piano) will offer a lyrical recital in Masmolets. On May 18 it will be the turn of the Camerata XXI orchestra, which will perform in Rasquera with a program that will include Argentine tangos and milongas. The journalist and popularizer Maria Montes will propose traveling to ancient times with narrations illustrated by the early music ensemble Ensemble Virtus, on May 24 in Miravet.

On May 25, actress Jordina Biosca will offer the show for adults ‘I vino el vino’ in Alforja. And on Friday, June 14, it will be the turn of the comic opera with ‘Il Teatro alla Moda’ by the Teatre de les Comèdies company, in Rodonyà. The festival will end on June 15 with Janine Johnson’s jazz concert titled ‘Confessions of a Soul Diva’, in Ginestar. All shows will be preceded by a tasting of wines protected by the DO Tarragona, from the cellars of the Associació Cellers Singulars DO Tarragona. The evenings will close with a cold dinner with local products.

And in Vilafranca del Penedès they are finalizing the organization of the 17th edition of Vijazz, the wine fair and jazz festival that will be held from July 5 to 7. The festival, organized by the Tastavins Penedès Academy, will once again welcome great figures from the international jazz scene such as Cory Henry, Hiromi’s Sonicwonder and Lizz Wright. According to the artistic director of Vijazz, Carles Ocaña, the capital of Alt Penedès is placed with this jazz festival “at the same height as cities like Los Angeles, New York, Paris or Rome”.

One of the novelties of this edition is the return of the wine fair to Rambla Sant Francesc, recovering the space of the first edition held in 2007. In this framework there will also be a gastronomic space, chill out areas and a stage that will host activities throughout the weekend. After the good reception of the previous year, Vijazz 2024 once again bets on the Cicle Nous Talents in collaboration with the ESMUC and the ViOFFjazz, which moves to the Societat La Principal–El Casal with its proposal based on electronic music.
