Manel gets off the stage. The popular musical group stops its activity indefinitely after 16 years. As RAC1 has advanced this Monday, this pause does not mean the end of the band, but rather a parenthesis until they return to the studio to compose new songs.
Manel’s return does not have any specific date. In recent weeks, the rumor had spread that the members (Guillem Gisbert, Martí Maymó, Roger Padilla and Arnau Vallvé) had decided to separate. The radio station assures that they will now focus on personal projects inside and outside of music, although none will release a solo album or with another band this 2023.
The group, one of the most influential in Catalan music of this century and which for years has filled concert halls and festivals, ended the tour for their latest album Per la bona gent in November last year. This was the last album he published, in 2019, although after the pandemic he released the ep L’amant malalta with a song with the same name, in addition to Tipus suite and La Jungla.
Manel’s hiatus comes the fifteenth anniversary of his first album, The Best European Teachers, which was a musical phenomenon due to its particular mix of pop and folk and its traditional lyrics. Años más tade the band dedicated itself with 10 miles to see a good armor (2011). Athletes, baixin de l’escenario (2013) and Jo competeixo (2016) are his other recordings.
