Dogs are known to be man’s best friend as they are loyal, affectionate, companions and constantly try to show their love to their owners. However, their shapes are very different from those that humans are used to, and even these can make them uncomfortable and generate stressful situations.
“There are signs of canine language that express a dog’s love for its human,” explains trainer Jose Antonio Ramos of SoyunPerro. But how to identify them?
“Dogs do not have the same perception of time as humans and a couple of hours for them can be an eternity. If when you arrive home, your dog is waiting for you at the door, wagging his tail quickly and walking on one side towards another in search of your caresses, it is because without a doubt he loves you,” explains the specialist.
“It is a form of canine communication that expresses the sentimental bond with one. A dog that sits on your feet is a dog that feels emotionally linked to its owner and that is why it lies down or sits as close as it can, that is his way of expressing that he wants to be with you.”
“If he always brings you his favorite toy to play with, it’s because he really feels very comfortable playing with you.”
Furthermore, “it is possibly one of the most affectionate gestures of a dog, licking its human as much as it can and without rest. It is a sign of great affection that means that it loves you very much.”
However, it is advisable to be careful with licking the face because if they touch the lips, which can be considered a kiss, they can also contract various bacteria that are not very beneficial for humans.
“Dogs that chase their human everywhere is because they consider him the leader of the pack and believe that he must do everything he says and of course follow him wherever he goes. Although sometimes they are a little annoying, it is because they love their human. For them it is respectful and exemplary behavior.
“When a dog sleeps next to his human it is because he loves him very much, because he feels very comfortable with him and in a certain way, because he can protect him and you can protect him, these are primary pack instincts.”
Additionally, “the emotional connection between humans and dogs is the foundation of the relationship,” says Clive Wynne, a professor of psychology and director of the Canine Science Collaboratory at Arizona State University (USA).
“Dogs are surprisingly social animals, so they thrive on our warmth and joy.” But this works for everything, so the owner’s stress and anxiety can also be transmitted as stress and anxiety to the dog. So, it is key to keep a good face, pamper them and take care of them to interact with them.
