The new ranking of the best pizzerias in Europe that 50 Top Pizza presented this afternoon has not brought good news for Spain: Sartoria Panatieri, by chefs Rafa Panatieri and Jorge Sastre in Barcelona, ??which during the last year had led the list, It has not managed to revalidate its title and in 2024 it has become the second best pizzeria in Europe.

It was the London-based Napoli on the Road, by chef Michele Pascarella, that took first place during an exciting gala held at the Pablo VI Foundation in Madrid, which included journalist Verónica Zumalacárregui as master of ceremonies. It was already clear that there could be changes on the podium after the English establishment obtained the ‘Pizza Maker of the Year’ award from 50 Top Pizza in 2023.

In third position on the new list is now Via Toledo Enopizzeria, by chef Francesco Calò in Vienna. This pizzeria also won another distinction during the ceremony: the ‘Pizza of the Year 2024’ award.

Fourth place went to the London establishment 50 Kalò and fifth to a Spanish pizzeria: Baldoria, by chef Ciro Cristiano in Madrid, also winner of the special ‘Best Pasta Proposal 2024’ award.

Another 5 Spanish establishments have also managed to gain a position in the new ranking. This is La Balmesina, in Barcelona (number 9); from Madrid’s Fratelli Figurato (10); Bilbao’s Demaio (17); Gasparic from Girona (38) – who has also won the ‘One to Watch 2024’ award – and Infraganti from Alicante (41).

In addition, some more special awards have been distributed. Like the ‘New Entry of the Year 2024’ that went to the Stile Napoletano pizzeria, in Chester (England), or the ‘Best Fried Food 2024’ that went to Zielona Górka, in Pabianice (Poland). The ‘Green Oven 2024’ recognition this year is shared by three pizzerias: the Barcelona-based Sartoria Panatieri, the Copenhagen-based Bæst and the Madrid-based MO de Movimiento.
