A woman in Florida was rescued from rising floodwaters after her vehicle started drifting away in a dramatic incident captured in a drone video. The footage, taken in Parrish, Florida, showed the vehicle stalling as the driver attempted to cross a heavily flooded road. The SUV then began drifting backwards in the fast-moving waters, prompting a rescue operation.

In the video, an individual waded through waist-deep water to hoist the woman out of the vehicle, with the help of two others who then led her to safety. Manatee County Commissioner Kevin Van Ostenbridge, who was on the scene, described the situation as swift water and emphasized the importance of not driving through floodwaters.

Officials from Manatee County, including the Public Safety Department Director and County Commissioner, along with a Good Samaritan, were conducting damage assessments when they witnessed the rescue. The county issued a reminder to “Turn around. Don’t Drown” to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Hurricane Debby, which caused the flooding, has since been downgraded to a tropical storm and is currently centered around South Carolina. The storm made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in Florida earlier in the week, resulting in at least five deaths in Florida and Georgia.

As the region continues to recover from the aftermath of the storm, it is crucial for residents to stay informed and follow safety guidelines to avoid dangerous situations. The heroic rescue captured in the drone video serves as a reminder of the risks posed by severe weather events and the importance of preparedness and caution.
