Despite repeated complaints, hospitality professionals continue to deal with unworthy working conditions, such as the latest case reported by the X (formerly Twitter) account, Soy Camarero. In his publication, this user shares the controversial rules that waiters had to comply with and the poor accommodation conditions they offered to their workers.
According to an internal document to which this account has had access, the management assures that the waitress “always has to smile and be very friendly.” “The customer doesn’t care if our tooth hurts or our grandmother is sick. The client comes to enjoy and spend an extraordinary evening,” they continue.
In its list, another of its slogans draws attention: “Waitresses who do not take note or take the wrong table with the wines or other drinks will be charged the amount of what they forgot.”
And the sanctions for workers do not end there, as can be seen in the document. “For each glass they break, they will be charged five euros,” they warn.
According to Soy Camarero, it is a “well-known” restaurant in Barcelona, ??although the waitress did not want to “give a name for fear of reprisals.” Seeing the conditions of the premises and the accommodation, she decided to leave on the first day.
Precisely, another of their complaints was the conditions of the accommodation, with a bed in the same kitchen and dirt in the corners of the room. The reactions of the users of this social network have not been long in coming and the majority agree: “Shameful.”
