In the town of Culleredo, in A Coruña, Galicia, a bar has revolutionized the gastronomic scene by focusing on an unusual segment of customers: dogs. The Monti Bar, recently opened by Carla Castro González, has gained notoriety by offering a canine menu with a specialty that has conquered furry diners: chicken cooked without salt and rice.

Castro, an animal lover, decided to create this proposal guided by his own experiences: “I had a little dog that I was always cooking for and when I went around I had nothing to give him,” he said in statements to La Voz de Galicia.

In this establishment, four-legged customers have their own menu, and the star dish is chicken cooked without salt and rice, under the name Menu Barf, it is specially designed for dogs with possible intolerances. The portion, whether for small or large breeds, is offered at three or five euros, respectively.

But the canine menu is not limited to chicken and rice. It also offers options such as gourmet cans of different flavors and a snack menu that includes pressed cartilage bones in various sizes. Here you will not find traditional feed, but gourmet alternatives that seek to provide dogs with a unique culinary experience.

Castro is always accompanied by her giant pet Jagger, a German dog who has his own Instagram account @dogojagger, and opened this establishment on December 23.

The owner is proud to be an “animal geek” and stressed that her goal was to create a space where both owners and pets could enjoy going out to eat or dine away from home. She assured that all dogs are treated with fresh water and treats, and highlighted that they also received clients without dogs: “What it is about is that we are all comfortable.”
