Due to professional circumstances that I already mentioned in a previous column, I am in another country. And as part of that adventure, I have had to stay in four or five different places over the last four months.

And as if it were a spiritual journey, I am discovering things about myself. That I miss my dog ??more than he expected, that returning to in-person work has been less hard than I expected and, above all, that I can’t live without an oven.

Horrible! Not being able to make some cookies, a chicken, or bread as God intended because of not having that wonderful and almost magical metal box, an essential ally of any self-respecting kitchen.

That’s why now, every time I have to change accommodation, the first question to my eventual new landlord is not the price, nor the location, nor the safety of the area, but: “Does the apartment have an oven?”
