The search for perfection and self-demand are part of the daily life of the protagonist of Amalia, the new comic by Aude Picault, which has recently arrived in bookstores.

Who do you think of when you draw Amalia’s cartoons?

In myself. When I have a new concern I try to see if it’s just my problem or if it’s something more general. And I do it by drawing. Amalia goes through situations that will be familiar to more than one. I was inspired by my own experiences and those around me to talk about this overwhelmed mother.

Does everyday life overwhelm you?

And who does not? The system is exhausting. There are many inputs that generate constant pressure that forces you to be productive all day.

Are you talking about work?

Especially, but also in family day-to-day life, where we often feel that we are not up to the task and we beat ourselves up for no reason. Although it is something that both genders suffer equally, I must say that women face it differently.

A question of education?

There is a clear sexist condition that comes from when we are children, it is true.

And the solution?

drop ballast Not making so many self-demanded sacrifices. If you stop having time for yourself you can end up getting sick.

If he succeeds, is there a risk of reoffending?

You can always go back. However, when one opens one’s eyes, it is very difficult to return to the starting point. Steps can be taken backwards, it is clear, but there will never be a return to the initial situation. It shouldn’t, wow.
