On Monday, At Roca opens the winery in Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs (Avinyonet del Penedès) after the first elaborations after the last vintage. It is the culmination of a project created 10 years ago by Agustí Torelló Sibill, the technical director; his sister Lali, the financial director, and his son and winemaker Agustí Torelló Roca.
AT Roca was born in February 2013 as a result of a family split from the wine and cava firm Agustí Torelló Mata. It is a winery that has been integrated into its landscape, in the middle of a 12-hectare farm. 100% of the production, harvested by hand, comes from their own farm and from four neighboring winegrowers. They are governed by the principles of ecological and regenerative dryland viticulture.
The winery, designed to adapt to the climatic and viticultural needs of the moment, is eco-sustainable and energy efficient. It is buried on the south face and open on the north face to offer a minimum consumption of cold storage. In addition, they take advantage of 100% of the rainwater and have photovoltaic panels that annually produce 9.5 times more green energy than they consume.
Agustí Torelló Roca affirms that “the construction of the winery represents the possibility of being able to produce wines that express the identity of our environment even more precisely and clearly”. He adds that “it is an evolution based on knowledge and experience to face the future in a sustainable way, and guarantee a quality model for our products”. They make wines and sparkling wines protected by the DO Penedès.
In the new facility, with which they are also committed to the wine tourism business with the vocation of generating value in the territory and its revitalization, 2.5 million euros have been invested. It has the capacity to produce 300,000 liters. It has been designed to vinify separately, plot by plot. In a second phase, an extension will be carried out to move the aging cellar that they currently maintain in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
