It’s easy to send $10 to the American Red Cross by simply texting “REDCROSS” to 90999. You can also donate by calling 1-800-733-2767, or visiting redcross.org. You can find additional information here, including tips on how to locate someone who was affected by the storm.
The Salvation Army established a Disaster Relief Fund for Tornado Victims. You can make donations here.
World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization, will begin shipping supplies to Kentucky churches starting Sunday. The supplies include food and emergency kits as well as heaters, blankets and solar lights. You can make a donation to support these efforts here.
Samaritan’s Purse is another humanitarian organization that said it sent disaster response teams to Mayfield in Kentucky and Monette in Arkansas on Saturday, while other teams began to travel to the devastation of Tennessee and Illinois. According to the group, a tractor-trailer with tools and equipment left Texas. More help will be available from North Carolina if weather permits. You can make donations here.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced that a tornado relief fund was created for the western region of Kentucky. He also encouraged people to donate blood as it has been in short supply since the pandemic.
Beshear stated, “There will be many deaths.” “There will also be many injuries.”
The governor stated that people living in affected areas should avoid driving whenever possible.
