The search for the next song that will represent Spain in Eurovision is already underway. This past Tuesday the first semi-final of the Benidorm Fest 2024 was held, from which the chosen one will emerge who will travel to Sweden next May. Of the more than 800 proposals sent to RTVE, only 16 made the cut for the semifinals, and the first four have already reached Saturday’s final, meeting the planned predictions.
The big winner of the night was ZORRA, the groundbreaking proposal from Nebulossa, who went to the final as first place. The duo formed by María Blas and Mark Dasousa has brought the public to their feet in Benidorm and at home, causing everyone to sing the song in unison. A union that works both on and off stage, as they are both a couple and having met in the most striking circumstances.
At 55 and 47 years old respectively, this Valencian duo has known each other for more than twenty, and they do so with a most peculiar story: María was Mark’s babysitter when he was little, since their parents were good friends. A very orthodox love story that has not gone unnoticed on social networks, generating a multitude of reactions and comments on X (Twitter) that have filled the last moments of the evening.
“Let’s see, my wife tells me that Zorra’s wife has said that her artistic partner is her husband and was also her babysitter. And I imagined an older man in one crib and the other one singing to him bitch and I passed gas,” reacted a user on Elon Musk’s platform. “Like she got involved with her babysitter… We will turn a deaf ear because this is the best song by far,” expressed another of the night’s notable comments.
“This came from Wattpad, he makes out with the babysitter and goes to a singing festival, this is from Wattpad”, “I made out with my babysitter. We just secured the 12th in Australia”, “I love the one from Nebulossa but the thing about the lady being the guy’s babysitter and they being a couple has touched me, HAHAHAHAHA” or “It was his babysitter and he had sex with her, sorry, can’t I? THAT?” These were other messages that most livened up the night during the broadcast.
Likewise, her interpretation of ZORRA has also been one of the most applauded and viral of the entire first semifinal. “Nothing to see her voice live with the video clip, a shame because she had promise. If she wins and they take her on tour before the festival, she will be left without a voice along the way… ”or“ I don’t know what will happen but for me, let her go to the final. It is true that it lacks something more explosive but the concept is cool and the theme is for the final”, were some of the outstanding responses.
