The Martian Chronicles was one of those television shows that are remembered for decades after coming to an end. The program presented by Xavier Sardà remained on broadcast for 8 seasons, producing more than 1,200 episodes and putting in the national spotlight figures who are still at the forefront, such as Toni Clapés. A program that ended in 2005 but will meet again in Telecinco’s El reencuentro.

The host of the late night format was interviewed this past Saturday by Ricard Ustrell on Col·lapse, TV3’s late night show on the weekends. There, Sardà gave the first details of this special that the Mediaset network plans to premiere soon, in addition to reviewing his career and the experience he lived. The Barcelona native explained that there will be different episodes that will contain the best moments of the program.

“We have made some specials on Telecinco with the best of Crónicas Marcianas. It has been an extraordinary job. Imagine putting the best videos of Carlos Latre, those of Boris Izaguirre, or the best moments of the program in general. It is a task of choosing video by video and the result is extraordinary,” he highlighted, assuring that the work had taken a total of eight years. Sardà also wanted to congratulate the team responsible for such a Herculean task.

Even so, the Catalan has insisted that, currently, he is more comfortable in the guest’s chair than in that of program host. “I’m not nostalgic at all. Now I like to collaborate on programs,” he noted. Likewise, another detail that he brought up was the sleep and fatigue problems that he experienced when presenting a format so late. “I finished very late and in the mornings I couldn’t sleep,” he insisted, ensuring that he couldn’t get up later than eight.

Sardà also highlighted that the end of Crónicas Marcianas was a personal decision, beyond having enjoyed and insisting that the audiences of that time could not be maintained today. The communicator recalled two editions of the space with over 50% screen share: during a Big Brother final and the day of the attack against the former Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs Ernest Lluch. A situation that he confirmed after concluding his stage.

“The day after closing I looked at the ratings to see how everything was redistributed, but 1,700,000 people went to sleep earlier,” he confirmed. Currently, Sardà is waiting for the premiere of this Reunion, which will be one of Telecinco’s notable premieres in the short term. This is a bet by Mediaset to remodel its grid and the image of the channel, adding to the return of Gran Hermano Dúo and the signing of Carlos Franganillo.
