The night of Wednesday, May 15, 2024 will be remembered as one of the most tense and historic in Spanish television contests. After long weeks battling through a multitude of tests, obstacles and complicated questions, Óscar Díaz has managed to win the Pasapalabra Jackpot in the decisive Rosco, a prize worth 1,816,000 euros. A year after Rafa Castaño, Óscar has entered the record and memory books of the contest.
But who is Óscar Díaz? A question that many anonymous people will ask themselves, not familiar with the Antena 3 contest presented by Roberto Leal, and who do not know the career of the man who has shared more than 150 programs with his main opponent, Moisés Laguardia. Born in Madrid 52 years ago, Óscar Díaz ‘El Temido’ has extensive experience participating in television challenges.
Her time on Pasapalabra was not new to her, after having competed for the first time in 2000 when Silvia Jato was its presenter. Six years later, she would accumulate 100 installments of Saber y Ganar: “It is not the most splendid program in terms of budget, but they make up for that with treatment and affection that you do not find in more industrial programs. I remember that when they eliminated me in 2006 it was like they took away a toy from me. “It was an almost childish reaction.”
On June 4, 2018, he returned to participate in the Rosco space thanks to a special edition, Pasapalabra en familia. There he appeared with his wife Patricia and his sister Lucía and would end up winning a total of 198,000 euros. He was later on, in the program Boom! by Juanra Bonet, where Óscar would become known as a member of Los Dispersos and would show his personality in more detail in front of the cameras.
“I am self-employed and that is my main activity, but I have taken a few turns in life, and I am currently in charge of the press for golf tournaments,” he expressed during his presentation. Along with his scattered companions, he remained on the air for a total of 324 programs, becoming one of the longest-lived members in his history. In total, the man from Madrid and his teammates ended up taking 1,546,400 euros before being eliminated.
On a more personal level, his main occupation in recent years beyond competitions has been that of translator. He himself highlighted cinema, sports and all kinds of reading as his favorite hobbies. Likewise, he specifically pointed out music as a special pleasure, and assured that in the past he had played in an amateur group.
