The controversy continues around Rosa Peral and her decision to have used the communications planned for family members to give interviews to the media. The Department of Justice, Rights and Memory of the Generalitat has sanctioned the former police officer, convicted along with Albert López for the murder of the Urban Guard agent Pedro Rodríguez, for making “misuse” of this regime.
Now, Peral’s defense denounces that Justice has ordered a “very intense” search of his cell. “Personal items have been removed from her, leaving her in a very uncomfortable situation,” explained her lawyer, Núria González, in statements to Catalunya Rádio.
González also assures that the former police officer has not been able to speak with her family for “three days,” something he maintains is anomalous. In addition, the penitentiary officials would have “unofficially” informed her of their intention to transfer her.
In recent days, Peral has given several interviews from prison, in which he has criticized the broadcast of The Body on Fire, the series that recreates what is known as the Urban Police crime.
In statements to Catalunya Rádio, the convicted woman, who has said that she has not yet seen the series, has criticized that, after six and a half years since her arrest, the case is still being “talked about”: “How long should we continue like this? “What else has to happen? People have taken advantage of it, we make a series, a book, a program, another program…”. “They’re beating me,” she sums up.
Furthermore, the former police officer convicted of the murder of her partner assures that the damage that the series may be doing to her daughters, “one of them a teenager,” is not being taken into account.
After granting the interviews, the Catalan executive announced a sanction for the prisoner and justified his decision for “reasons of good coexistence and proper functioning” of the centers.
