The world of modeling has always been known for being one of the most complicated and where there is the most rivalry. Valeria Mazza knows this well, who has recently given details of her eternal rivalry with Claudia Schiffer, the German supermodel who never approved of Valeria being nicknamed by the press of the time as ‘the Argentine Claudia Schiffer’. Now, the Rosario-born presenter and model has recalled how she faced the mannequin trying to keep her off the catwalks more than two decades ago.
Valeria was one of the most important models of the 90s, being the first Latin American in her profession to succeed worldwide. At just 14 years old, stylist Roberto Giordano noticed her and gave her a pass in the world as a model. At the time when the names of supermodels like Cindy Crawford or Naomi Campbell were loud, Valeria carved out her own niche in the industry, managing to appear on more than 550 covers, some of them the most important.
Mazza, 51, is now back on television in our country. The Argentine is a presenter on Dancing with the Stars alongside Jesús Vázquez, on Telecinco. In the midst of promoting the program, the topmodel has opened up about her rivalry with Claudia Schiffer, and she recognizes the tension that existed between them. “When I started I didn’t have much fun and wherever she could, she tried to get me out,” she revealed on the American Breakfast program.
And, as revealed, Valeria could not model for Karl Lagerfeld, one of the most prominent brands, since he had a devotion to the German mannequin. “At first the press created a competition. Claudia was already Claudia when I started. I did certain jobs and they compared me to her; there were moments of tension, but everything passed,” she continued explaining. “Later we learned to live together and I made my career, I didn’t stop at taking advantage of that situation either. On the contrary,” she stated.
Currently, Valeria is still closely linked to the world of fashion. The model has worked as a presenter and jury at galas and events related to fashion, and she has also dedicated herself to teaching in the world of modeling. On the other hand, she has worked as a businesswoman, selling various lines of accessories and a magazine.
Regarding her personal life, Valeria has had a relationship for almost three decades and with businessman Alejandro Gravier, whom she met in 1990 and whom she married eight years later. The couple has four children: Balthazar, Tiziano, Benicio and Taína. They are her biggest driving force. Without a doubt, she is in a very good moment.
