A man from Massachusetts had to be rescued by a Black Hawk helicopter after he experienced a medical emergency while hiking with his family in a remote area. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department received a notification about the 52-year-old man in distress between two summits on the Kinsman Ridge Trail in New Hampshire’s White Mountains around 2:14 p.m. on Tuesday. The trail was located about 4 miles from the nearest trailhead, making it challenging for a quick rescue response.
Due to the hiker’s remote location, the New Hampshire Army National Guard deployed a Black Hawk helicopter to assist in the rescue mission. Medics were able to reach the man just before 4 p.m. and continued the life-saving measures that were initiated by family members and other hikers until he was safely taken down to an ambulance by Littleton Rescue and Fire at 4:40 p.m.
Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the hiker “succumbed to his medical emergency,” as stated in the release. His body was later transported to the Ross Funeral Home in Littleton, New Hampshire. The man’s identity has not been disclosed as authorities are waiting to inform his family first.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the New Hampshire National Guard for further comments on the incident.
