Last Monday there was a historic moment on television in our country. After more than 18 years of absence and endless comments on social networks every summer for the public channel to recover the entertainment format, the Grand Prix returned to the small screen.
The return of the space presented by Ramón García to the public channel devastated and became the most watched last Monday with a huge 26.1% share of the screen and more than two and a half million viewers, a great figure that did not take long in celebrating from the channel.
2.6 million viewers at the premiere of a program is a very good figure, especially if we take into account that we are at the end of July, the time of the year when television consumption drops to a minimum.
García is not only presenting the mythical format, but on this occasion he is accompanied by two greats of the Spanish audiovisual scene: the actress Michelle Calvó, who acts as ambassador of the towns and hostess of the program, and the streamer Cristinini, who is dedicated to comment on the games of the contestants from a prepared booth.
The first episode, in which they faced the towns of Alfacar (Granada) and Colmenarejo (Madrid), had Lolita Flores and Miguel Ángel Muñoz as special guests, who were sponsors of each of the municipalities.
Although the audience is happy and content with the return of the Grand Prix, many wonder how much it costs the public channel to produce a program like this. For some months now, RTVE has been obliged to respond as a public medium to the requests made to it through the Council for Transparency and Good Governance, since a law was approved that obliges it to do so.
Due to access to the data, some media outlets have echoed how much the program cost Televisión Española. This season will consist of seven episodes and has a total budget of 3.8 million euros, an amount approved by the RTVE Board of Directors. If we divide the total amount between the different installments, we can deduce that each chapter costs 542,800 euros.
Although it is not the most expensive project that the chain has hosted, it is above the average of the programs that they usually broadcast. For example, a few days ago The Bridge of Lies premiered on the same channel, a project presented by Paula Vázquez that has a budget of 220,117.55 euros per episode.
We are going to get along well, the program that Ana Morgade presented last season and that will soon start its second opportunity with Lorena Castell at the helm, costs around 350,000 euros per installment, thus confirming that Ramón García’s space is one of the most expensive from the actuality.
