Eurovision 2023 is just around the corner and more and more aspects are becoming known about Blanca Paloma’s performance in Liverpool, which has remained strictly hermetic since day one. But what would have happened if she did not go to Eurovision?
This question today seems unthinkable, since the Benidorm Fest made very clear the decision of viewers and jury when deciding who would be the Spanish representative for the festival this year. However, beyond the 18 candidates, there were a few other converts to substitutes.
What was not known to date was the name and identity of the artists who also fought to become candidates to represent Spain in Eurovision and became substitutes in the event that one of the titleholders could not participate. But it didn’t happen.
Now, thanks to a request to the Transparency Portal promoted by ESCplus towards RTVE, the name and the song with which six artists sought their place in the Spanish pre-selection have been revealed. And some of the names will not leave anyone indifferent. But who were they?
Noan tried to get involved with Every Day; K!ngdom did the same with Counting stars; Nena Daconte, through From London to Paris; Loren sought her luck with I Confess; Hugo Cobo, with Come now; and finally Bajocero X, with Shoot Me.
A group of artists who, on the contrary, will have to try their luck again next year if they want to enter the shortlist to participate in the galas that will decide the singer or musical group that represents Spain in the next Eurovision Song Contest. The question at this point is: where will it take place?
