Frankie de Leonardis, best friend of actress Itziar Castro, has received one last request. The director announced this morning on social networks the death of the actress, who lost her life in the early hours of this Friday in Lloret de Mar (Girona).
With a view to shedding some light on the matter, the director has contacted a television program, where he has revealed the peculiar request that Itziar’s mother made to him after his death.
The director, who admits to being broken after losing his friend, has connected with Socialité, where he detailed: “She is family, she is my sister. We met 25 years ago in a cafe in Barcelona and from then on we were inseparable.”
De Leonardis has also shared how he received the sad news: “The first to find out are the family. His mother, Lucía, his brother, Oriol… They told me and I was shocked. The mother asked me to get in touch with all means because she lived for her audience,” he says.
Regarding his death, Itziar Castro was preparing a synchronized swimming special when he began to feel unwell: “He was in the pool, he didn’t feel well, he decompensated and there was nothing to do,” says his great friend.
After experiencing this emotional impact, the filmmaker has dedicated some emotional words to the performer: “Itziar was not only a talented actress and artist, but a tireless fighter for her ideals and beliefs. She faced each challenge with a determination and courage that inspired “His contribution to the art world and his tireless work for equality and social justice will remain a lasting legacy of his passion and commitment,” he added.
