Although 13 years have passed since the end of El internado, which was broadcast by Antena 3 between 2007 and 2010, the series is still very present among those who saw it at the time or have recently discovered it. One of the reasons why the production does not go out of style is the great international success achieved by one of its main performers, the actress Ana de Armas.

Given the buzz that The Boarding School originally caused, it’s no surprise that many of its leads are still widely remembered for their roles on the series. This is the case of Daniel Retuerta, an actor who gave life to Roque in the Antena 3 production, and who has made visible the hateful comments that he still receives through social networks due to his character’s attitude.

Retuerta has been invited to the Animales humanos podcast, where he has assessed his current relationship with the character he had to play: “You have to kill someone in the series, and what happens to me in life is that people interact like I was interacting with a reality show,” he says.

The actor has verified how some followers of El internado have not been able to distinguish between reality and fiction, something in which Ana de Armas also comes into play: “They write to me because they are burned with something the character does. [. ..] You Google Daniel Retuerta, Roque from El internado, on Instagram, you find the verified one and you say: ‘This is it, well, I shit on your father because you killed Ana de Armas,'” he confessed.

Daniel Retuerta has compiled some of the incendiary comments he has received on his social profiles. “There is one that is wonderful, who says: ‘You could have killed anyone, but Ana de Armas was on top … But what had she done to you!'”, he has recounted. In his opinion, these are “people who are very poisoned” and who “do not even follow you” on the networks.

“Me, if there is someone who does not follow me on Instagram, apparently it is because we get along badly in real life,” Retuerta thinks. In addition, he has revealed his remedy for these insults: “I have a quick response scheduled on Instagram for a month, which is news where Ana de Armas appears next to Chris Evans, in which she says ‘I asked to be killed in The boarding school'”, he concluded.
