Manuel Díaz ‘El Cordobés’ has begun his last bullfighting tour before hanging up his montera and cutting off his ponytail. In the celebration of Morón de la Frontera he has had the support of his family, including his father Manuel Benítez, with whom he reconciled a month ago after a lifetime of conflicts.

“Well, yes, the truth is that I’m very happy”, said the bullfighter just before moving towards the bullring, in what was going to be a day to remember: “I hope it can be a beautiful afternoon for all of them” .

And it was, because the image will go down in history, since it is the first time that father and son can enjoy a bullfighting afternoon after having sealed the peace that Manuel Díaz always sought. The bullfighter, throughout his career, has recalled on several occasions that his dream was that his father could see him fight-in fact, he became a bullfighter so that one day Manuel Benítez could feel admiration for him- . At 54 years old and on the brink of retirement, he has finally made it. Without a doubt, it is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day.

Manuel Benítez, who was accompanied at all times by his daughter-in-law Virginia Troconis, was smiling and complicit. “A lot, a lot, but a lot, a lot,” he told the press when asked if the bullfight was special for him. And he was in a very good mood: “I’m older than a parrot now, do you think I’m ready to jump?”

Once in the stands, in the front row, he did not take his eyes off the work of his son, who shared the bill with Cayetano Rivera, and was delighted with the bullfight.

After finishing, the right-hander approached the area where his father and his wife were. They were waiting for him standing and applauding. So, he took off his montera and gave his mother both ears, something unthinkable a few months ago.
