Ryan Scott Anderson opens up about his relationship with Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Less than six months ago, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison on parole after serving seven years of a 10-year sentence for her involvement in her mother’s murder. Waiting to pick her up was her then-husband Ryan Scott Anderson, whom she married while she was in jail.

The couple embarked on a whirlwind journey together as Blanchard adjusted to life outside of prison and dealt with newfound fame. However, by June 2024, they were in the midst of a divorce.

Anderson, a sixth-grade social studies teacher, met Blanchard while she was incarcerated. He sent her a letter as part of a pact with a friend, and they eventually got married in 2022.

Blanchard’s story as a victim of her mother’s Munchausen syndrome by proxy has been widely publicized. She and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn plotted to kill her mother, who was found stabbed to death in 2015. Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, while Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

After her release, Blanchard became a social media sensation, gaining millions of followers overnight. Her life post-prison was documented in the Lifetime series “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.”

Anderson shared that the experience of being followed by cameras and fans was overwhelming, but he hopes Blanchard finds herself and happiness in the future.

As for their relationship, Anderson mentioned that they are going through a divorce but still have love for each other. He emphasized that love was never their problem and that they are both going through a difficult time.

In the upcoming episodes of the series, Anderson believes viewers will gain insight into their relationship and marriage. He stands by his actions and words during filming and hopes that viewers will see Blanchard’s journey of self-discovery and growth.

Overall, Anderson remains supportive of Blanchard as she navigates life outside of prison and hopes she finds happiness and fulfillment in the future.
