This past Monday, May 6, podiatrist Víctor Alfaro visited the studios of the Hora 25 program on Cadena Ser to refute and debunk some of the myths related to our feet and our behavior with them in our daily lives. At first, the guest claimed that the shoes had to be bought at the end of the day. ”It’s advice from the book, shoes are best bought in the afternoon,” he confessed.

This is mainly because our feet widen throughout the day. For the shoe to fit perfectly, it is essential to try them on in the afternoon and not just after waking up when they are still “tied up.”

”The advice should be to buy them better from noon onwards and, also, choose the width,” said the podiatrist. Furthermore, Alfaro took advantage of his intervention to refute all those mothers who scolded their children for going barefoot around the house. ”At home it is perfect to go barefoot because there, everything we are saying about the load, is perfect for freeing your foot because no matter how big your house is, you are not going to be walking kilometers,” he assured.

”I think there is no risk for ordinary mortals,” added the presenter, Aimar Bretos. ”Being able to do things barefoot is very good. Nothing will happen to children who are allowed to do things barefoot. With a sock, little ones are usually very scared, they are told “all the evils are going to enter through their feet”, “they are going to get cold”. “Nothing is going to happen to them, if you have a floorboard at home or a rug and they wear a sock, they can do things barefoot and it will be great for them,” he explained.

Finally, the podiatrist assured that short intermittent walks on the beach were good for almost everyone. However, the expert qualified his words and confessed that it was not good to spend hours walking through the sand if you are not prepared. ”That is going to create a problem for you because you go down to the ground and then because of the extra effort involved in walking on the sand. That’s great for a short time. If someone wants to walk seriously on the beach, they are either trained or I recommend that they put on some sneakers and go walk along the promenade,’ he pointed out.
