There is a Vision series in development at Marvel. It was announced, yes, but we repeated it in case someone had forgotten, taking into account that Scarlet Witch and Vision (WandaVision) was broadcast more than three years ago and that this character has one of the most unfortunate journeys in the fictional universe. Now, however, there is fresh news: Vision finally has someone to write it.

The man hired to offer a new perspective on the character is Terry Matalas, who began as a screenwriter on Star Trek: Enterprise at the beginning of the century and who has since worked on Terra Nova, Nikita, the television version of 12 Monkeys, MacGyver or more recently in Star Trek: Picard.

Matalas will be the showrunner, a role that was initially supposed to belong to Jac Schaeffer, who surprised in 2021 with his way of approaching Scarlet Witch and Vision: as a meta commentary on family television in recent decades and a metaphor about loss. But after Schaeffer became involved in the series’ other spin-off, Agatha All Along with Kathryn Hahn, Marvel had to look for another creative mind.

Viewers, for the record, will have to be patient: Disney plans this series dedicated to Vision for 2026. Then we will be able to see what happens with the character presented for the first time in 2015 with Avengers: Age of Ultron, seen in Captain America: Civil War , who died in Avengers: Infinity War at the hands of Thanos and after falling in love with the Scarlet Witch.

The last time we saw him, however, it was twice in Scarlet Witch and Vision. On the one hand, as Wanda Maximoff’s husband, a being created from the Scarlet Witch’s magic and feeling of loss. On the other, as an android under the orders of S.W.O.R.D. without any kind of memory. At the end of the miniseries, the memories of the original Vision were transferred to that Vision that was an empty shell, giving rise to the possibility of a continuation.

In addition to Matalas, the only guaranteed participation in the Vision series is that of Paul Bettany.
