This Wednesday saw the delivery of the Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts that corresponded to 2022. The Ministry of Culture has decided to distinguish 32 personalities who did good for culture during that year. This ceremony could not take place in 2023, as planned, due to the general elections, which caused everything to be postponed.

The kings, Felipe VI and Letizia, have presided over this event, which took place at the Cádiz Congress Palace and in which several well-known faces from the world of music, film and art did not hesitate to attend.

In this award, awards have been given to faces such as Concha Buika, currently well known for her role as a jury in the latest edition of Operación Triunfo and for her dedication to the world of music, or the Spanish actor Javier Cámara, who is currently immersed in the Rapa series.

But those who also did not want to miss the ceremony, although they have not been awarded on this occasion, are María del Monte and his wife Inmaculada Casals. It is the first public event they have attended after all the controversy with their nephew Antonio Tejado. And they have done it with great smiles, but without giving a single statement to the press present.

And the one who has been awarded is the singer Víctor Manuel, who attended the event in a black suit accompanied by a gray tie with suns and moons. “One of the great musical authors in Spain” is what he has been awarded for. And his successful songs “marked by his social and political commitment” have remained in Spanish cultural history.

Although he hasn’t come alone. Ana Belén, the Spanish singer with whom he has been married since 1972 and with whom he has two children, has also been seen in the celebrity parade at the entrance of the place. And she has been part of the guests at this medal ceremony.

And from guest to guest. María Victoria Peña Carulla, better known as Vicky Peña, did not hesitate to attend the event with her characteristic way of dressing that has not left anyone indifferent. Although she has not been one of the winners for the 2022 edition, she will be one for the 2023 edition. So it is not surprising that she is very happy.

But the one who did not want to miss this gala for anything in the world was Alejandro Sancho. María Jiménez’s son has collected the medal from his mother that the Ministry awarded him posthumously. A recognition that highlights the professional career of the singer for so many years, who died in 2023. “Minister Iceta called my mother to tell her that he had his medal and she was very excited, because, in addition, she was waiting for him. “He made a joke, we were in the car and we were dying of laughter. He had a huge sense of humor,” he said in an interview.

This list is joined by other names such as the painter Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau, the cook María José San Román, the theater director Mario Gas, the chemist Carmen Muro, the artist Carlos León or the actress Carme Elías.
