Lorena Gómez is going through a good time. On a personal level, her journey continues to bear fruit. In October 2023 she released her new album, Me vuelvo a la vida. Additionally, she will soon release a new single. As for her personal life, on April 12 she will turn 38, and she will do so surrounded by those she loves most: her husband, René Ramos, and their common child, René. Although everything is in order in her life right now, there was a time when things were not so good. This was revealed to El Español during a conversation at the premiere of the documentary My desires win, which tells the life and struggle of Elena Huelva.
During the conversation with the aforementioned media, the artist opened up about many aspects of her life, such as love, work, family, motherhood, and also cancer, the disease that, unfortunately, took Elena Huelva a long time ago. one year and four months. Lorena knows first-hand what it is like to suffer from this disease: her mother suffered from it and died during treatment.
Regarding the opening night, Lorena assured that “it is a very nice night” and stressed the need for well-known faces to attend “this type of event, to raise awareness, to help and to make visible and support research.” “I lost my mother to this damn disease. In my family there have been two more cases, which are my mother’s sisters,” she was honest, and then added that it is “shit.”
Gómez dedicated a song to his mother. At that time, she lived through a very complicated time. “Yes, I dedicated it to him. If I Could See You, it’s titled. My little cousin, two years old, with childhood cancer, also died. My cousins’ son, too. I thought he wouldn’t have this disease so close and “I’ve had it. It’s horrible, that’s why what Emi (Elena’s sister) has done is amazing, especially to raise awareness,” he said.
The artist revealed in the talk with El Español that she goes for check-ups often. “I err on the side of having too many check-ups. The doctor tells me ‘I don’t want to see you here again in a year’. What happens is that I am very afraid. Every year I go to the doctor terrified. My mother was told that it was a gastritis and in the end it wasn’t that. There is a lot of lack of information, we have to do a lot of research. We have to support these people who are studying to save our lives,” he expressed, by way of vindication.
The moment of losing her mother was hard, but one of the best moments of her life also occurred then: the birth of her son. “I am very close to my family, to my sisters, to my father… To my son. My son was born and my mother died at the same time. It was horrible,” she explained.
Despite this bad experience, the singer is now in a good moment on a personal and professional level. “I’m releasing a new song on Friday the 12th, which is my birthday. What better gift than releasing this song with all of you! I give my gift to them. To the people who are there. They tell me ‘when do you release music.’ I’m going slowly, because I want to do things well,” he began by saying. “I’m very happy. I’m going to do a duet with an international artist. I’m going to Miami the week of May. You’ll see who it is. I’m excited for this beautiful time,” she said, very happy.
