The best way to make sure you’re stocked up for Fastnacht Day is to order in advance.

But it’s getting a little late for that. Fastnacht Day is Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Never fear — many area bakeries allow walk-in purchases for both single fastnachts and by-the-dozen orders of the Pennsylvania Dutch doughnuts. Here’s a round-up of some spots across the Lehigh Valley where you can get your fix on Fastnacht Day 2017. Be sure to arrive early or risk disappointment.

Where to go on Fastnacht Day 2017

Easton Baking Co. The old-fashioned favorite is preparing to make 3,000 dozen fastnachts. “We open at 5 a.m., and the first customer will usually come around 4:30,” said Mitzi Petty, whose family owns the bakery. They’ll have traditional potato fastnachts in glazed, powdered sugar, cinnamon and plain varieties for $5.40 a dozen or 45 cents each. 34 N. Seventh St., Easton. 610-252-6343. Hours: 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Egypt Star Bakery. Plain, glazed, granulated sugar-coated, powdered, cream-filled and jelly-filled versions are available at this bakeshop with locations in Allentown, Whitehall Township and Coplay. Some years they run out, while other years they don’t, so try your luck. 608 N. Front St., Allentown 610-434-8516; 2225 MacArthur Road, Whitehall Township, 610-434-3762; 45 N.
