La Dana continues to wreak havoc in Spain, and heavy rains forced the cancellation of the Juanes concert in Mérida, framed in the STONE
The interpreter of hits such as La camisa negra or Es por ti, himself, reported through social networks that the weather forced them to make this decision: “I was very excited to sing for you tonight at the Roman Theater in Mérida, but the Inclement weather literally ‘spoiled’ the party for us, the rain flooded the theater and it was technically impossible to guarantee the safety of all of you and our team. I am deeply sorry and I hope that the coming days give us a new opportunity,” he published.
Many of the fans came to the hotel where Juanes was staying and the artist decided to go out to “sing them some songs”, since some of the spectators “came from Huelva and other nearby places”, as the singer himself explained in a video that he posted on his social media.
With guitar in hand, the Colombian came out of the hotel gates and the fans present cheered him on. “Big, you are very big,” some people chanted as soon as they saw him outside the hotel, located in the Plaza de España.
“It’s a great detail on your part,” said a young Basque woman, initially disappointed by “such a long trip for nothing,” but “immensely grateful” for the “detail” of her idol. Juanes, accompanied by a member of his band, sang “La camisa negra”, “A Dios le pido” and “Es por ti” to the hundred people who gathered in front of the hotel.
The storm that unloaded on Mérida, due to the passage of the Dana through Spain, was intense in the capital of Extremadura. According to Aemet records, some 50 liters per square meter were collected, which caused the flooding of the entrances to the theater and the orchestra, “making the concert impossible.”
