José Ortega Cano has been in the media spotlight on several occasions in recent years. From his situation with Ana María Aldón, sending each other mutual responses regarding the support of his son, through his triumphant return to the bullring to celebrate half a century in the bullfighting world. However, current events have once again highlighted his figure for more worrying reasons.
The native of Cartagena would be suffering from serious economic problems that could leave him homeless, according to the TardeAR program. The Telecinco evening show presented by Ana Rosa Quintana has uncovered several debts of different kinds that could end up affecting his residence. There are three accounts for quantities exceeding 100,000 and they have been produced for a long time.
For the last three years, Ortega Cano has received seizure notices for his house in Fuente del Fresno, which he restored with his ex-partner. Lecturas magazine pointed out that the first arrived in 2021, due to a debt of 53,000 with the Madrid city council. The second appeared at his door in 2023, with a number that amounted to 62,000 euros after several negotiations with two bullfighting companies.
The third came as a result of an endorsement that neither the program nor the gossip magazine have been able to specify. The Mediaset program has gone into detail about the reasons for previous debts. The first, pending with the city council, would be related to taxes pending payment, while the third would be waiting for a credit. Likewise, they explained that without these settled figures the house could not be sold.
TardeAR has also considered the fact that Ana María Aldón entered into its economy in order to clean up its accounts, but that did not work either. Ortega Cano’s situation is also derived from his multiple investments, mainly for three companies that he managed and that have not been operational for more than five years. Both exceeded one million euros in losses when they closed in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
More recently, his relationship with Ana María Aldón had caused problems due to possible non-payment of obligations on his son. A fact that he himself took it upon himself to discard in an archival interview: “Everything is arranged and solved. I have never skimped on anything and we are working on it. The existing problem with the pending bank transfer was already solved.”
