Guests took to the yellow carpet for the opening night of The Wizard of Oz this week. The new musical, based on the iconic story by L. Frank Baum, has arrived at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. It is touring the UK and Ireland throughout 2024, following a run at the London Palladium.
A host of well-known faces joined Dorothy, Toto, and friends for a memorable trip down the yellow brick road to the merry old land of Oz. Sean Moncrieff stepped out with his partner Caroline and their daughter Cora. James Patrice was all smiles as he enjoyed a night out with his dad Jim. Grace Mongey was spotted with her daughter Sienna while former Pamela Uba, Louise Lennox, and Noor Salem were also in attendance.
Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood plays The Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. Speaking about the new musical, he said: ‘I am super excited about taking on the iconic role of The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. She’s mean, green, and wants those shoes! Aquaphobic and fab-u-lous…here I come!’
The Wizard of Oz features the iconic original score from the Oscar-winning MGM film. Over The Rainbow, Follow The Yellow Brick Road, and We’re Off To See The Wizard can all be heard in the music as well as additional songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
The Wizard of Oz runs at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre until Saturday, June 8.
