Lookingglass Theatre ensemble member David Schwimmer will direct a new play by Kevin Douglas as part of the storied Chicago theater company’s 30th season. Titled "Plantation!," the play will star Louise Lamson and Tamberla Perry.
The narrative involves the discovery of complications in the history of a Southern ancestral home. It’s slated for the spring of 2018.
Also on the Lookingglass season, announced Tuesday, is a revival of one of the ensemble-based company’s biggest past hits, the theatrical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ epic novel "Hard Times." Lookingglass artistic director Heidi Stillman said Monday that her production will bring back several of the original cast members, including David Catlin, Raymond Fox and Troy West. "Hard Times" is slated to open in October and play through the holiday season.
Next May, Lookingglass will stage a new adaptation of Jules Verne’s "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," as adapted by David Kersnar and the psuedonymous Althos Low. Kersnar will direct a cast that includes Kareem Bandealy as Captain Nemo and Kasey Foster as Professor Aronax.
Lookingglass performs at the Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Avenue. Visit www.lookingglasstheatre.org for more details or call 312-337-0665.
