First there were David Broncano and Carlos Herrera, whose image was used fraudulently. Now, it has been the turn of presenter Carlos Sobera, victim of a scam that is spreading through X (formerly Twitter) as promoted content.
According to several accounts, these days it is not difficult to find sponsored publications, in which supposed interviews with the presenter are shared with compromising information and false statements.
“Big scandal: Movistar management refuses to comment on its employee David Broncano,” reads the headline of the news, hosted on a fake RTVE website. “This could be the end of his career,” he reads in the comment spread by a bot on this social network.
In another of the advertisements promoted by X, the arrest of Sobera is reported, although the photo is altered with Photoshop. “Sobera Carlos openly admits it: ‘I’m not ashamed of my words!'” adds this user.
Another example that once again calls into question the policy of Elon Musk’s platform, which promised a “safe” place where opinions could be shared and have “good” conversations.
This scam is not new. The criminals used the same modus operandi in the case of David Broncano. On that occasion, his objective was to promote Immediate Bitwave, a cryptocurrency platform.
It was RTVE who publicly denounced this fact. “Scam: RTVE has not broadcast this false interview with Carlos Herrera about a cryptocurrency platform,” the public network said in a statement.
